At Four Oaks Primary School, the safety and well-being of every child in our community is our highest priority and a firm commitment. We fully embrace the collective responsibility we share with parents, carers, and the wider community to safeguard the children under our care. Our approach is collaborative, proactive and deeply rooted in creating a secure environment where every child feels safe, protected, and empowered.
Through a thoughtfully designed and comprehensive programme encompassing engaging lessons which include Resiliency lessons, assemblies and enriching educational visits, we equip our pupils with vital knowledge and understanding. This empowers them to confidently identify how to keep themselves safe and to actively support their own physical and mental health. We ensure that every child knows they have ready access to a trusted adult within our school for guidance or support, and we foster the confidence and communication skills necessary for them to always seek assistance when needed.
We have a dedicated and highly trained member of our leadership team who serves as our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), specifically responsible for all wellbeing and safeguarding matters. They are readily available to offer expert advice and support. Should you ever have any concerns about a child's safety or well-being, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately. We welcome all concerns, regardless of their nature or perceived severity, and assure you that every concern will be addressed with the utmost seriousness, sensitivity, and appropriateness to ensure every child can lead a life free from harm or fear.
For non-urgent safeguarding matters, the DSL or her deputy can be contacted via the school office on 0151 263 4038 or via email office@fouroaksprimary.com. To report a concern about a child at risk in Liverpool contact Children's Social Care on 0151 459 2606. In the case of an immediate emergency where a child is at risk, please call 999 without hesitation.

Child Protection Statement
The school ensures children learn in a safe, caring and enriching environment. Children are taught how to identify risky, unsafe or problematic situations, how and when to seek help, how to develop positive and healthy relationships and how to avoid situations where they might be at risk including by being exploited.
The school also has a statutory responsibility to share any concerns it might have about a child in need of protection with other agencies in particular police, health and children's services. Schools are not able to investigate child protection concerns but have a legal duty to refer them. In most instances the school will be able to inform the parents/carers of its need to make a referral. However, sometimes the school can in certain circumstances share information without the consent of the family and may be advised by children's services or police that the parent/carer cannot be informed whilst they investigate the matter or make enquiries. We understand the anxiety parents/carers understandably feel when they are not told about any concerns from the outset. The school follows legislation that aims to act in the interests of the child.
The school will always seek to work in partnership with parents and other agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for the child and family
