Year 3 - Art

This half term in Art, Year 3 are learning about the artist Pablo Picasso. As part of our drawing topic, we have been exploring his unique style and using a variety of mediums such as: chalk, charcoal, oil pastels and sketching pencils. This week we looked closely at some of his most famous artworks and completed our own artist study, learning how Picasso used shapes, continuous lines and detailed sketching to show expression and movement. We all enjoyed discussing his creative ideas and trying out some sketching in his style. We are looking forward to applying what we have learned by using Picasso’s work to inspire our own artwork in the coming weeks!

“He makes his line drawings looks really simple, but they are quite difficult!”- Abdul

“I like how he uses one line to make a whole picture.” - Peace

Little Acorns - Story time

This week in Little Acorns we have been enjoying the story ‘Say Hello to the Snowy Animals’. We have been getting to know the names of polar animals and using these within our play to help retell the story. We have used the book to talk about the snow and related to this to real life by discussing the change in our weather and how we can keep warm with our coats, hats and gloves.
