Nursery - Settling in

Our first full week in Nursery has been lovely spending time settling in, getting to know one another and becoming familiar with our daily routine and class rules. We have been building confidence as we learn each other’s names and make new friends. We have enjoyed exploring conkers, noticing the signs that Autumn is on its way. We discussed the texture, shapes and beautiful colours that we could see. The children shared other changes they have noticed whilst walking in the local area. We have painted fantastic self-portraits, thinking carefully about our features and what makes each of us unique. It has been a great first week of curiosity, creativity friendships and new experiences.

Year 5 – Wonder

Over the past week, the children have started reading ‘Wonder’ by R J Palacio. They have been immersed into August’s world and what his life is like. The children have been using their imagination and creativity to form impressions of specific characters in the novel including August, Mr Tushman and Mrs Garcia. The children have exhibited enthusiasm towards the story so far and are looking forward to reading more of the book over the coming weeks! Well done Year 5 for a brilliant start to the school year!

Billy – ‘I love that Auggie is resilient when he tries to make friends.’

Eliana – ‘ I like the fact that August is unique.’

Fox – ‘ I like that Jack Will, Julian and Charlotte took time out of their summer holidays to come to school and meet August.’

Jessica – ‘ I think that August is special, extraordinary and unique!’

Dolcie – ‘ I am enjoying this book because it isn’t like any of the other books I’ve read before!’

Four Oaks pupils chosen for BBC Newsround

We were delighted to welcome another exciting opportunity for our Year 6 pupils last week, when BBC Newsround contacted Four Oaks to invite some of our children to take part in filming for a feature on Dockwatch - exploring marine biology and the ecology of UK waters at Liverpool’s Albert Dock.

Four of our brilliant Year 6 pupils - Darcie, Gift, Gabriel and Charlie - took part in the filming and did an amazing job. We are incredibly proud of them!

What makes this opportunity particularly special is that BBC Newsround chose Four Oaks because of the strong reputation we have built through our high standards, organisation and the fantastic contributions of our pupils and staff. Following their previous experience of working with us during the 2024 General Election Special, the Newsround team remembered Four Oaks and recommended us for this latest project.

It is a wonderful reminder that the hard work, dedication and commitment of our whole school community have a lasting impact. Our pupils continue to represent our school brilliantly, and opportunities like this show that Four Oaks is firmly on the map!
