Reception – Computing

This week in Reception, the children have been learning how to use a keyboard to sign in to the computers. They explored how to find and recognise letters, particularly those in their own names, and practised typing them with increasing confidence. The children showed great enthusiasm as they developed their early computing skills, learning how to use the equipment carefully and independently. It has been lovely to see them support one another, celebrate their successes, and grow in confidence as they begin to navigate technology in a purposeful way.

Year 4 Geography field trip – The River Alt

During our Year 4 geography field trip, we visited the mouth of the River Alt to observe how a river changes as it reaches the sea. The children carefully sketched the meander of the river and observed how the River Alt joins the River Mersey before flowing into the sea. Although the river level was quite low due to the recent warm weather, the children were able to identify and name key physical features. They labelled their sketches accurately, including the meander, riverbanks, areas of erosion and the mouth of the River Alt. This fieldwork helped the children develop their observational skills and collect geographical data from a real environment.

Book: My Dad's a Birdman by David Almond

I liked this book because it was funny. My favourite part was when Birdman learned to fly and when he ate worms because it made me laugh.

I would recommend this book to children in Nursery because it is silly and funny. I think they would enjoy listening to the story and laughing at the funny parts.
