Nursery – Summer Safety

This week in Nursery we have been learning about summer safety. We talked about the importance of applying sun cream, staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water and wearing loose, comfortable clothing to keep cool in high temperatures. We shared stories about the summer season and discussed fun activities we enjoy during sunny days. We created our own ice-cream parlour which has been a fantastic learning opportunity for the children. The children reminded each other to use our hydration station in our classroom throughout the day. We are all excited for summer fun with our families, and we hope everyone stays safe and happy this summer.

Year 2 Class News: Marvellous Reading and Roald Dahl!

This week in Year 2, we have been exploring the life of Roald Dahl and discovering how his exciting life inspired his writing. Did you know that before he became an author, he was a fighter pilot in World War 2? We have been reading George’s Marvellous Medicine and loving every page. We would highly recommend this hilarious book to our friends and families.

Our fantastic Year 2 readers have been introduced to George’s grandma—a grumpy, grouchy old woman who eats slimy worms and wiggly caterpillars! She constantly bosses George around and treats him in a very mean way.

Dear families,

We wanted to say a "big thank you" to all the children, staff and adults at home for being so supportive during this heatwave week.

The children have been absolutely wonderful and demonstrated a mature approach to staying safe. KS2 children, in air conditioned classrooms upstairs, have made room for Y1 and Y2 to have classroom space so they can continue their learning in a cool classroom; Reception have enjoyed using the playdeck and library as their air conditioned spaces and Little Acorns have joined Nursery to use their air conditioned building. Everyone in school has adapted brilliantly to using the different spaces. We most sincerely appreciate the effort from parents, carers and other adults at home who have shown how much they value the education provided by continuing to send children to school in such unusual circumstances. A brilliant effort from everyone! Thank you!

Although the weather forecast suggests that temperatures will reduce to a more normal summer temperature of around 20 to 21 degrees next week, it will still be very warm so we wanted to reassure families that we will continue to use air conditioned spaces whenever we need them.
