School Highlights

Year 4 IntoUniversity

Last week, Year 4 thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the IntoUniversity careers workshop. Through a series of interactive activities, the children explored a range of exciting careers, including voice acting, museum curation, design, archaeology and working in a museum. The workshops encouraged pupils to think about the skills and knowledge needed for each role, while providing opportunities to solve problems, be creative and work collaboratively. The children were highly engaged throughout and enjoyed learning about the wide variety of career pathways that may be available to them in the future.

Pupil voice:

"I really enjoyed the career's workshop because it was lots of fun. My favourite part was the marble reward system that the visitors used because it made the activities exciting and encouraged everyone to join in." – Finn

"I enjoyed learning about being a shoe designer. I had never thought about this as a job before, but I have always liked being creative, so it was really interesting to learn that creativity can be part of a career."  - Aria

"The career's workshop helped me think outside the box about different jobs. We even talked about being a voice actor, which is something I had never really considered before. I would love to do a job like that because it sounds exciting and creative." – Noah

Year 1 – Art

In Art the children have been learning about the artist Andy Goldsworthy. The children used clay to create their own clay pot, inspired by Andy Goldsworthy. They used different utensils to create patterns in the clay. The children used leaves as inspiration and engraved their own leaf designs. When the clay pots had fully dried, the children painted them in colours of their choice.

Attendance and Punctuality

As a parent you are legally responsible for making sure that your child attends school. If your child fails to attend school without an acceptable reason, you risk getting a penalty notice or being prosecuted.

Arranging appointments and outings after school hours, at weekends or during school holidays will help to prevent disruption to your child's education and to the school.

You should not take your child on holiday during term time and if you do take them out of school this too may result in a penalty notice.

Punctuality:

It is extremely important that your child arrives on time for school each day. Even being a few minutes late disrupts your child’s education.

  • Arriving 5 minutes late each day means 3 school days lost
  • Arriving 15 minutes late each day means 10 school days lost
  • Arriving 30 minutes late each day means 20 school days lost

Attendance

Absence: It is your responsibility to phone the school office by 9am each day your child is absent. Please leave a voicemail if there is no answer.

TERM TIME HOLIDAYS WILL RESULT IN FINES.
