School Highlights

Year 2 – Pentecost

Year 2 enjoyed a wonderful visit to Christ Church to celebrate Pentecost. The children engaged beautifully in an interactive workshop where they completed fun mini-challenges and made crafts. Through these activities, the pupils also explored meaningful ways we can help others.

“I loved making the bright Pentecost crafts to take home!” – Ella

“Blowing the paint for our craft was amazing because it reminded me of the Pentecost wind.” – Thomas

Nursery – Planting Seeds

In Nursery we have enjoyed planting seeds together and watching them grow over time. We planted sunflowers, cress, chives and strawberries. The children have become highly invested in caring for the plants and show excitement every day. They learned how to care for their plants by giving them water, sunlight and the right conditions to help them thrive. As they observed the changes, they developed new vocabulary such as stem, seed, root and leaf. This hands-on experience helped the children understand what plants need to grow and how they can look after living things with care and responsibility. We are eager to see how they develop during this term.

Niyah – ‘The plants have grown up.’

Daniel – ‘They are getting bigger and bigger.’

Fathima – ‘The strawberries are not here yet, we have to wait.’

A Message from the Headteacher

Dear families,

Welcome back after what proved to be a hot half-term break. We hope that you all enjoyed the break. It has been wonderful to see the children settling back into their final half term of the year with their usual enthusiasm! This week I have particularly enjoyed the opportunity to spend time working with Year 6 children in writing workshops. Their creativity and command of different genres of writing is impressive. We hope you enjoy an example of their dramatic writing below. This one has been provided by Samathy.

Kind regards,

Mrs Robinson

If you’d asked me if I’d believed in demons, I would have said no. That was until, Friday the 13th October 2003...

Along the streets of an abandoned town, me and my friends dared to explore a giant, dusty manor. As we kept staring at the decaying manor, the lights started to flicker and curtains jolted. Then, as quick as it started, it stopped. No sign, nothing...

As we stumbled towards the small, oak door, the door suddenly creaked open. We dragged ourselves forwards and stared at each other. “Hold up,” Darcy whispered. “Why don’t we just go inside and see what’s in there?” Reluctantly, I agreed. Suddenly, something we never expected happened...

The shadows seemed to thicken around us, as we moved deeper into the building. Our torchlight revealed strange marks scratched into the walls.

They looked like messages, but most were too faded to read. Then one of the sentences appeared clearly in the beam of light. We both glared at the message.

The light started to flicker. I called my friend loud and clear. Silence. I felt a prickly sensation at the back of my neck. There was a powerful smell of decay. I felt a cold, strong hand round my neck. Then everything went pure black...

By Samathy.

Toys from Home

Please do not bring toys into school from home as they could end up lost or broken, especially squishies, as once they burst they can ruin uniforms with either the powder or gel that is inside them and could be dangerous if children put their hands in their mouths with the substance on them. We have toys in school that the children can play with. Children can also make recommendations if they would like toys that we do not have.

Attendance

Absence: It is your responsibility to phone the school office by 9am each day your child is absent. Please leave a voicemail if there is no answer.

TERM TIME HOLIDAYS WILL RESULT IN FINES.
