Year 6 - Shakespeare

To kick off Shakespeare week, Y6 were lucky enough to have the opportunity to watch a professional performance of the play, ‘Macbeth’. The children thoroughly enjoyed the performance and watched enthusiastically. They were able to speak to the actors after the performance and asked them questions about the play and the industry. This immersed the children into the world of ‘Macbeth’, which they were then able to rely on in their English lessons to enhance their understanding of the play.

Reception – Humpty Dumpty

Reception became detectives this week as they worked together to solve the mystery of ‘Humpty Dumpty’s great fall!’ The children arrived at the crime scene to find that Humpty Dumpty had fallen off his wall, and they immediately began investigating the scene and composed a list of suspects. Using magnifying glasses, they searched carefully for clues, discussing what might have happened and sharing their ideas with one another. As part of their investigation, the children learned all about fingerprints and discovered that every person has their own unique pattern.

‘I think that Incy Wincy Spider crept up and frightened Humpty Dumpty and that’s why he fell off the wall!’ Isabelle

‘We are using our magnifying glasses to look at the pattern of the fingerprint on the door.’ Daisy

‘ Maybe the dish and the spoon pushed Humpty Dumpty off the wall because they wanted to eat him up.’ Erick
