Reception – Spring

Spring has sprung, and our classrooms have been full of ‘eggcitement’ as we have been learning all about Easter. This week the children have explored the story of Easter in a simple and meaningful way. We talked about kindness, new beginnings, and why Easter is a special time for many people around the world.

“Easter is a big celebration all about Jesus coming back to life after dying on the cross.” – Polly

“When it is Easter, people can go to Church to celebrate.” – Kester

“Easter shows us it is nearly spring.” – Erick

Year 5 - Floodplains

This week Year 5 went on a trip to Formby floodplains. We have been learning about floodplains this half term in geography. We have learned about different rivers, such as the River Alt. The students drew the river and floodplains. We discussed the different ways land is used around the floodplains in Formby, such as housing, farmlands and transport systems. The students added these features to their sketch and labelled them

Science holds future answers, and it is ours to create plan… and dream.

As part of the 2026 innovation awards, Year 5 and 6 children were challenged to create an imaginative solution to a problem which would make a difference to how people live their lives. A huge congratulations to Florence Dunning on winning the first round of the competition at North Liverpool Academy. Florence designed a portable dyslexia lamp that can change colour, act as an overlay and can be attached to any text. Florence wanted to help people with dyslexia and support them with their reading. She said, “I feel proud I want to make a difference to people’s lives and to make life easier for people with dyslexia.” Florence will now be entered for the national awards!

A message from the Headteacher

Dear children and families,

It was very exciting to see the Easter Bunny who visited school again this year. The Easter Bunny was full of praise for our wonderful children and especially enjoyed seeing some bunny hops from the children! The Easter Bunny brought a crème egg for every child, compliments of Four Oaks Governors. We hope the children enjoy them.

From everyone in Four Oaks, we wish you all a wonderful Easter break, and we are looking forward to seeing you back in school ready to start the Summer term on Monday 13th April.

Kind regards,

Mrs Robinson

Headteacher
