Year 5 – Arabic Tent

This week, Year 5 enjoyed a wonderful visit to the Arabic Tent at CUC. The children explored aspects of Arabic culture through traditional music, musical instruments, and dressing up in Arabic clothing. They also tasted Arabic tea and biscuits and even learned to write their names in Arabic. It was a great cultural experience, and the pupils had a brilliant time learning something new!

Reception – Maths

Reception have been exploring the composition of numbers up to 8. Composition is all about understanding that one number can be made up from (composed from) two or more smaller numbers. Learning to ‘see’ a whole number and its parts at the same time is really important. The children have used the part-whole model and numicon to explore this concept.

“5 is a part, 1 is a part, 2 is a part. The whole is 8.” Alice

“Six can be made up of two equal parts, 3 and 3!” Malaz

“4 is a part, 3 is a part. The whole is 7.” Cristian

A message from the Headteacher

Dear families,

We have reached the end of another busy half term and the time seems to have flown by! As always, I have been very impressed with the children’s manners and enthusiasm for all that they do both in school and when they are out on school trips.

It has also been wonderful to see the children’s engagement with special visitors who have been in school to support their learning. Year 2 have enjoyed weekly LFC sports coaching sessions and Y4 have been very lucky to have artists from Liverpool Tate Art Gallery work with them on creating 3D sculptures out of recycled materials. I am looking forward to seeing the final art works when they complete them after the break.

Finally, CONGRATULATIONS to all the children who have had 100% attendance this half term. They each received a prize. In addition, two of the children won their family a £50 gift voucher in the 100% raffle.

Well done to Reagen, Y2, and Gladness, Y3, who both won £50.

Don’t forget, the 100% prize and prize draw takes place every half term. Next half term is only 5 weeks long so if you are in school every day for 5 weeks (25 days) you will be entered into the £50 prize draw plus you will win other prizes.

We hope you have an enjoyable half-term break and we are looking forward to welcoming you back on Monday 23rd February.

Kind regards, Mrs Robinson
