Year 3 - DT

In our recent DT lesson, year 3 enjoyed an exciting bread-tasting lesson as part of their learning about food and nutrition. They sampled a variety of breads, using their senses to explore different textures, smells, flavours and the appearance before rating them on a scale of 1 to 5. The children learned where bread comes from, discussed simple ingredients, and considered which breads would be suitable for different purposes. They recorded their opinions on each type of bread on an evaluation chart and took time to consider which one they would prefer to use when making their own sandwiches.

“I loved the baguette because it smelled so fresh and was really crunchy!” – Paul

“I liked ordinary white bread the most because we can use it for lots of things like sandwiches or even toast.” – Abel

Year 1 – Art

In Year 1 we are continuing inspiration from the artist Romero Britto. We have been creating our own pieces in his style. We focused on using bright colours, patterns and used a black outline to make our masterpieces really stand out.

“I have used crosshatch and swirly patterns on my flower.” Laura

“I have used bright clashing colours and wavy patterns.” Mila

“I used happy rainbow colours, so people enjoy my work when they look at it.” Patrick

SCHOOL MATTERS!

Punctuality

It is extremely important that your child arrives on time for school each day. Even being a few minutes late disrupts your child’s education.

  • Arriving 5 minutes late each day means 3 school days are lost.
  • Arriving 15 minutes late each day means 10 school days are lost.
  • Arriving 30 minutes late each day means 20 school days are lost.

Attendance

Absence: It is your responsibility to phone the school office by 9am each day your child is absent. Please leave a voicemail if there is no answer.
