Year 4

During the autumn term, children really enjoyed being introduced to the guitar and learning how to play the notes E, B, G and A. They practised these notes through the songs Easy Bezee and Strictly B, developing their finger placement, strumming skills and confidence along the way.

In Wednesday’s lesson, the children continued to apply these skills and learned to sing a new song, I Go Africa. They showed enthusiasm and focus as they developed their musical understanding through both playing and singing.

Pupil Voice:

Gracie Mai 4LC: “I like guitar lessons because I am getting better at playing the notes and I enjoy singing the songs with my friends.”

Billy 4AP: "I like guitar lessons because Mr. Story makes the lessons exciting, being able to do different warm-up games. I look forward to guitar club every week."

Nursery

This week in the Nursery we have been exploring mixing colours. We had so much fun experimenting with colours and learning new colour names together. We used simple methods involving primary colours (red, yellow, blue) which can create secondary colours (orange, green, purple). We used descriptive vocabulary such as light, dark and bright. This activity encouraged the children to use early scientific thinking through hands-on mixing activities. The children felt excited as they independently mixed the colours. We created vibrant pieces of artwork to display in our creative area.

Wellbeing Check In

As we start a new term, we want to ensure that we are supporting all children in the best possible way. To help us to do this, we'd be grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete the short questionnaire linked below. This is an opportunity to let us know how your child is feeling as they return to school; whether they have any worries, or if you'd like to share any positive experiences from the holidays. Your insights will help us provide a smooth and supportive start to the new term. Please note that we will close this questionnaire on Sunday 11th January 2026 at 8pm.

Please scan the QR code below to complete the short questionnaire.

Thank you for your time, and continued support.

A message from the Headteacher

Dear children and families,

Happy New Year! We hope you had a good break and that 2026 has got off to a good start for you. It was wonderful to see all the children return to school. They settled into their school routines very quickly, and it was a delight to visit every class and see the high quality work the children were producing and how well they were using 'Think Pair Share'.

This is a whole school approach where the teacher poses a question and children have time to think of a response before turning to a partner to explain their thinking or the answer. One partner then gives feedback to the whole class. This enables children to have time to plan their answer and practice articulating it with one person before sharing it widely. It has been proven to foster deeper understanding, develop communication and enables every child to participate in a low-pressure way. Well done children!

Have a lovely weekend and see you on Monday.

Mrs Robinson
